styling tips & tricks

Choosing the right outfit for your session can significantly enhance the overall look and feel of your images. Aim for cohesive color platelets that reflects your personality while insuring yourself/everyone feels comfortable. Soft, natural tones often work well, allowing the focus to remain on the genuine moments captured. You can also incorporate several patterns or textures, but be mindful to not overwhelm the composition. Layering is a great way to add depth; consider scarfs, cardigans or vest that can be easily added or removed for variety.
Accessorizing can also elevate your photos! I encourage you to wear accessories that reflect your individual style, such as hats, jewelry or hairpieces. However, its best to keep it simple to avoid distractions. Lastly, consider the location of your shoot when selecting outfits; your clothing should compliment the environment. Most Importantly, choose outfits that make you feel confident and comfortable, as this will shine through in your photos, resulting in genuine smiles and interactions!

picking colors based on your undertones
Determine your undertones: To identify your skin's undertones, look at the veins on the inside of your wrist. If your veins appear blue or purple, you have cool undertones. If they appear green, you have warm undertones. If it's difficult to determine the color, you likely have neutral undertones.
Cool undertones: If you have cool undertones, opt for clothing colors like jewel tones (emerald green, sapphire blue, and ruby red), as well as icy pastels and crisp whites. These colors will enhance your natural coloring and create a striking contrast.
Warm undertones: For those with warm undertones, choose clothing in earthy shades like olive green, mustard yellow, and rich browns. Warm-toned reds, oranges, and peachy pinks will also complement your skin beautifully.
Neutral undertones: If you have neutral undertones, you're lucky enough to look great in almost any color. Experiment with a wide range of shades, but consider avoiding colors that are too close to your skin tone, as they may wash you out.
prep for your session
Plan to bring along any necessary items, such as snacks, water or favorite toys for younger children, to keep everyone comfortable and engaged. It's also helpful to arrive to the location a little early, allowing time for everyone to acclimate and relax before the session begins.
Comfort is key but don't be afraid to add a little extra drama! Heavier makeup photographs well, so feel free to add a little extra color and let your hair down!
While I'm not above bribery to get some good photos, it's best to avoid candy that will stain your child's mouth. Save those for after! Packing some extra tissues or baby wipes is also a good idea!
Make sure to avoid uncomfortable or restrictive clothing and shoes. You'll want to be able to feel good and move freely! Your comfort will reflect in your photos!

what to expect from our session
Sessions with Until Now Photography are relaxed, guided, and low-pressure. I’ll offer gentle direction when needed, but there’s plenty of room for natural movement, connection, and real moments to unfold.
If kids need a break, that’s okay. If things feel imperfect, that’s often when the best images happen. My goal is to create an experience that feels comfortable and true to you - capturing your story as it is, right up until now.
getting your photos back
My turn around time is about 2 weeks for a finished album! I will send you a link to an online collection, through pixieset, that will allow you to download the photographs in high resolution, straight to your computer or phone - It's that easy!
